And talking about rebellions... David Bowie's song came to my mind...
"Rebel Rebel, you've torn your dress
"Rebel Rebel, you've torn your dress
Rebel Rebel, your face is a mess..."
Just loved the costumes from all the Hunger Games movies series, especially the Mockingjay outfit Katniss wears in battle.
"Revolutions often come with a uniform, from the pantalons of the French sans-culottes to Che Guevara’s military fatigues. So when Katniss Everdeen joins the uprising in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay—Part 1, she has to dress the part." TIME
The sketches were made for the movie and they appear in one scene and that's how it caught my attention.
"Design team Kurt and Bart say they took inspiration from the armor
collection at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, as well as
historical depictions of Joan of Arc. The result is this sketchbook,
depicted in the film as belonging to Katniss’s stylist, Cinna." Time
"The designers say creating the outfit through that character’s eyes was a
helpful approach to the process. “He knew [Katniss] was to become not
only an actual on-the-ground leader of a rebellion,” says Kurt, “but
also the symbol of the revolution. Symbol and soldier was our mantra.” Time
About "The Hunger Games" costumes designers:
"Judianna Makovsky (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) handled the first film in 2012, and Trish Summerville (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Gone Girl) was responsible for the elaborate, runway-ready looks in 2013’s Catching Fire. But for the series’ final installment, director Francis Lawrence went with design team Kurt and Bart, whose previous credits include Dallas Buyers Club and Stoker.
They had their work cut out for them, since Mockingjay: Part 1 and 2 represent the darkest and most austere chapter of the trilogy." Mtv
