Here on the blog, we've talked about Al, Jack, Bob, and we talked about Sly, Jude and Jim so... I believe it's about time we needed to talk about Bruno Bruce too, right? Not that we've never mentioned him before. There's a little bit of Bruce here & here.
Actor and musician, Walter Bruce Willis was born on March 19, 1955, in Idar-Oberstein, West Germany and is well known for playing wisecracking or hard-edged characters, often in spectacular action films + that funny appearance on Tv series Friends.
A couple of weeks ago, his family surprised the whole world with the announcement that he would be taking a break from his career because of health issues. Such sad news makes us put things in perspective and in my case, made me watch all the Die Hard movies for the first time (can you believe it?).
So why not celebrate Bruce's amazing career watching some of his awesome films? Here, I've selected 9 of them I really love (and have seen more than once - specially the sci-fi). Hope you enjoy the list:
The Fifth Element (1997), by Luc Besson with Gary Oldman, Ian Holm and Milla Jovovich
Bandits (2001), by Barry Levinson. With Billy Bob Thornton and Cate Blanchett
12 Monkeys (1995), by Terry Gilliam. With Brad Pitt
Sin City (2005), by Frank Miller, Quentin Tarantino, Robert Rodriguez. With Jessica Alba, Devon Aoki, Alexis Bledel, Powers Boothe and Mickey Rourke.
Looper by Rian Johnson. With Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Emily Blunt
Surrogates (2009), by Jonathan Mostow and based on the 2005–2006 comic book series The Surrogates
Death Becomes Her (1992), American satirical black comedy fantasy film directed and produced by Robert Zemeckis. with Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn
The Bonfire of the Vanities (1990) by Brian De Palma, with Tom Hanks, Melanie Griffith and Kim Cattrall
Blind Date (1987), by Blake Edwards. With Kim Basinger
Bonus* Die Hard (1988), by John McTiernan. With Alan Rickman
This one could be on one of our Christmas movies list, right? After the first one, the 3rd is my favorite of the franchise.
Die Hard 3: With A Vengeance (1995), by John McTiernan. Starring: Jeremy Irons, Samuel L. Jackson, Graham Green and Larry Bryggman
Before I go, 'Pulp Fiction' is not on the list because I haven't seen it yet (sorry, I promise I will!)... Any other you notice is missing here too? Let me know!
Also, yes I learned after writing this post - Bruce's nickname is Bruno!
(The Disney's 'Encanto' joke is real)
