It's only the First Day of Fall and I'm already thinking about cashmere sweaters, seasonal candles and grabbing a cozy blanket to cuddle up with my dogs watching a romantic movie! Speaking of which... I have a few favorite films set during the most beautiful autumn days to share with you. Start streaming now and don't forget to bring your spicy pumpkin latte too :)
1. Autumn in New York (2000)
The name says it all! New York during the fall looks even more beautiful... Directed by Joan Chen and starring Richard Gere and Winona Ryder, is a romantic drama, set in NYC's autumn, about an aging womanizing restauranteur who falls for a sweet, but terminally ill, young woman.
2. When Harry met Sally (1989)
This 80s romcom starring Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal was written by Nora Ephron and directed by Rob Reiner. The film is about a pair of quirky New Yorkers who are convinced that men and women can’t be friends until something changes... and of course, they meet in Central Park on an autumn day. The foliage in the background and Meg Ryan's wardrobe will get you in the fall mood really fast!
3. St. Elmo's Fire (1985)
Another 80's classic, I've already mentioned here, the film tells the story of seven friends - Alec, Billy, Jules, Kevin, Kirby, Leslie and Wendy - trying to navigate through life and their friendships following college graduation. Directed by Joel Schumacher and starred by Emilio Estevez, Rob Lowe, Andrew McCarthy, Demi Moore, Judd Nelson, Ally Sheedy, Andie MacDowell and Mare Winningham.
4. Little Women (2019)
This Greta Gerwig's 2019 version of the classic novel will help you embrace the changes of the new season. Starred by Saoirse Ronan, Timothée Chalamet, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh, Eliza Scanlen and Laura Dern, the film tells us a story of four determined sisters who take charge of their own lives in 19th-century Massachusetts.
5. Sweet November (2001)
Based in San Francisco and directed by Pat O'Connor, the film is starred by Keanu Reeves and Charlize Theron. After meeting at the DMV, Nelson and Sara establish an unconventional fall relationship, which is determined by a one-month trial.
