This season, Maison Alaïa’s creative director, Pieter Mulier, took his mastery to the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York. As an architect and admirer of Frank Lloyd Wright's constructions, saying I love the show is an understatement.
The futuristic collection featured 90s minimal inspired looks. Spiral cuts that reminds in fact, the Guggenheim's own architect and circular shapes that defy gravity just as the museum's structure once defied the technical standards of traditional engineering.
By the way, now Alaïa is the first fashion label to stage a runway show inside the Guggenheim Museum and also , it was the first time that the French house staged a show in America since 1982, when founder Azzedine Alaïa presented his collection in New York at Bergdorf Goodman, officially introducing his designs to the U.S. market.
Bravo!
