The actress was wearing the first Givenchy Couture gown ever designed by Sarah Burton, the new head of the French luxury brand. The designer, who will present her debut collection as the creative director of Givenchy at Paris Fashion Week, took inspiration in a Hubert de Givenchy dress from 1952.

According to Harper's Bazaar: "The Bal à Paris gown was a recreation of a dress first designed for the spring/summer 1956 collection. Initially conceived in white organdy satin and black velvet, it was recreated in a pink double face silk satin version, topped with a bustier in black velvet adorned with a delicate bow. The creation was reproduced custom for Madison by the Dior Couture Atelier and creative director, Maria Grazia Chiuri."
